Medical Billing And Practice Management Firm Hires New Chief Technology

CHATTANOOGA, TN February 17, 2009 – Medical Management Professionals, Inc. (MMP), a national billing and practice management firm, has hired Joe Degati as its new chief technology officer. Degati will provide strategic vision, leadership and guidance for the company’s IT operations in order to serve its 3,000+ hospital-based physicians and 80+ facilities nationwide.

Degati will direct, coordinate and support all technology functions within the company, including application development and deployment, infrastructure management, and technology governance. He will also negotiate contracts with third party technology providers and maintain customer data security by joining the company’s HIPAA Security Committee for risk assessment and remediation.

Prior to joining MMP, Joe Degati served as the chief information officer for Spheris, where he was instrumental in driving the company’s transformation from a domestic-only medical transcription service organization to a clinical documentation technology company supported by global service. He also served as senior vice president and chief information officer for Progeny Marketing Innovations (formerly FISI Madison Financial) and as a senior director of technology for Footstar. He received a Computer Science Degree from Columbia University and is currently a member of the Nashville Technology Council and the Nashville CIO Council.
